Unless you have been asleep for the past 5 years you will have heard how much of an impact Apples product have made on the world of technology.
This is without a doubt all thanks to iOS, the mobile operating system that powers the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. With Apples latest release of it's Mac operating system (OSX Lion), a few features have been carried over from iOS to the suite of desktops and laptops they offer.
Features such as launchpad, auto-save, full screen apps and an added emphasis on gestures really start pointing to the possibility of a touchscreen iMac in the future.
An inevitable blend of the two operating systems that would result in a machine with the accessibility of Apples mobile devices with the power of a desktop.
Patents do exist that at least point to the fact that Apple has thought about it, regardless of how many times they say it will never happen.
In my opinion this would be a great move for the company.

Apple have stated they won't make a touchscreen iPad in a keynote. Would be too uncomfortable to use. Hence the large glass trackpad with gestures...that's the best a laptop/ desktop can handle.
Then again, would be kinda cool
Yet patents still exist showcasing the idea, look it up =)
